“Educating for the Everyday Examined Life”
by Surya Green
Abstract for the workshop "Creativity in Education"
Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture
Kolkata, India
14 and 15 November 2009
Surya Green will discuss the link connecting creativity in education
with the roots of education to be found in the Source of existence itself.
She will highlight the basic purpose which education serves,
tying it in with knowing the nature of the essential being of those to be educated,
and so throw light on the incompleteness of present educational approaches.
She will address such questions as:
How can creativity in education awaken people
to levels of themselves of which they may be unaware,
and thus contribute to the growing meaningfulness of their lives?
How important is the value of personal experience in the role of education?
Can we, by treating our everyday studies in the School of Life as an ongoing creative process,
help transform the methods and approaches to education on this planet?
